The Voice of Children and Youth for Rio+20

The Tunza International Children and Youth Conference is a global youth forum of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) that brings together young environmentalists from all over the world to share experiences on the environment. The conference is held every two years; this year it was hosted by Indonesia in Bandung from 26 to 30 September.

UNEP, in collaboration with the Indonesia Ministry of Environment, established the conference themes as Green Economy (Rio+20)/Green Lifestyles; Forest; Sustainable Consumption; and the state of the Global Environment from a youth perspective. It brought together 1,400 children and youth (5 – 25 years old) from 118 countries to discuss their role and potential contributions to the upcoming UN Conference on Sustainable Development “Rio+20”, in Brazil next year.
